The first virtual release from the Spivey Hall Children's Choir, Hold Fast to Dreams, reflects both the pain of these difficult times and the hope that young people and beautiful music represent.

ATLANTA - ncarol.com -- The Spivey Hall Children's Choir announced its virtual release of Hold Fast To Dreams, a Langston Hughes poem set to music by Susan Labarr. The overarching goal of the Hold Fast To Dreams virtual performance is to encourage music educators and students to create musical experiences that transcend the social distancing challenges.

The 50 member select ensemble Tour Choir is part of the highly acclaimed Spivey Hall Children's Choir. Tour Choir Members are selected by audition from students who have invested at least one year in the Children's Choir and demonstrate a higher level of mastery in the areas of sight-reading, music theory, and vocal technique. Successful execution of vocal music in a choir relies on being able to hear the other voices around you for tune and timing. During the 2020 pandemic, Tour Choir members had to overcome the demands that increased time in a virtual learning environment presented in order to develop a virtual choir experience not only equaling but rivaling their in-person performance history.
