Under his leadership, the organization became a vital link between faith-based communities and the public sector, focusing on eliminating disparities and improving the holistic health of the people it serves.

A service to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Barker-Bey will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at A.E. Grier & Sons, 2310 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206. Visitation is at 11:00am, and the service begins at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Living Waters Inc to continue to the mission of empowering communities and helping youth and their families heal.
