Flint Youth Film Festival Now Accepting Submissions for 9th Edition Until March 10, 2024

FLINT, Mich. - ncarol.com -- The Flint Youth Film Festival (FYFF) is excited to announce the call for submissions for the ninth annual Flint Youth Film Festival (FYFF).  Organized by iMichigan Productions, the FYFF, premier and eagerly anticipated annual fundraising event showcases the talents of young filmmakers between the ages of 13 and 25. This year's festival promises to be an even more engaging and diverse celebration of filmmaking, offering both digital and in-person screenings, workshops, and a red-carpet award ceremony. This will be one of iMichigan Productions' premier and eagerly anticipated annual fundraising events.

The Flint Youth Film Festival encourages entries that explore diverse themes, styles, and perspectives. The organizers are particularly interested in supporting voices that may not always have the opportunity to be heard.

"We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire, connect, and empower young minds," said Rodney W. Brown, iMichigan Productions Founder and President. "The Flint Youth Film Festival is a space for emerging filmmakers to showcase their talents and make a positive impact on the world."

The Flint Youth Film Festival introduces the art of filmmaking to young filmmakers between the ages of 13 and 25. It provides a platform for emerging talents to express their unique perspectives through the powerful medium of film with venues for developing their storytelling talents. The festival entrants are divided into four age groups, 13-15, 16-18, 19-21 and 22-25 years of age.  The three older groups' films are divided into fiction, nonfiction, experimental and animation open to all ages.

  • Submission deadline – March 10, 2024
  • Notification Date - May 24, 2024
  • Opening Reception - Thursday, July 25, 2024
  • Movie Screenings - Friday, July 26, 2024 – Saturday, July 27, 2024
  • Closing Red Carpet Reception - Sunday, July 28, 2024

The Flint Youth Film Festival is sponsored by iMichigan Productions, Flint Institute of Arts, Share Art Genesee, James A. Welch Foundation, A.G. Bishop Charitable Trust, and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. This activity is supported in part by Michigan Arts and Culture Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

IMICHIGAN PRODUCTIONS

iMichigan Productions is a youth-based organization that provides reading and writing skill-based learning through the arts. Our programs serve to support the youth in developing the necessary skills to pursue a career in the film and television industry. We serve an average of 300 youth ages 13 – 25 annually.

iMichigan Productions is a 501(c) (3) non-profit led by media professionals with over one hundred years of collective experience in the classroom and behind the lens in producing television, film, video, and other media projects. For more information: www.imichiganproductions.org.
