CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 22, 2025 ~ Brightspeed, one of the nation's leading telecommunications and internet service providers, has recently announced the launch of a new program that will offer its unique fixed wireless voice and data solution to customers currently using aging copper cables. This innovative solution, developed by Brightspeed, will utilize Verizon's network and position the company as a leader in the industry. The partnership with Verizon is a significant step towards closing the digital divide across Brightspeed's 20-state footprint.
According to Brian Bond, Chief Technology Officer at Brightspeed, this fixed wireless solution is designed to support voice calls and provide families and businesses with reliable internet connectivity. "Connectivity is essential in nearly every part of our lives and work," said Jeff Hulse, President of Verizon Partner Solutions. "Working with Brightspeed, we are connecting more people and providing them with solutions necessary to create a fully connected nation."

Brightspeed has made a multi-billion-dollar investment in deploying its state-of-the-art fiber broadband network across its service areas in the South, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S. However, this deployment will take time and cannot fully cover all seven million locations within its footprint. This is where the partnership with Verizon comes into play. The new fixed wireless voice and data solution will offer customers a more immediate option for high-speed connectivity.
"Our goal is to give every home and business within our 20-state service area a more reliable option over copper voice and data services," said Tom Maguire, CEO of Brightspeed. "Everyone deserves access to the latest and best communications technology available." Maguire also highlighted the limitations of copper networks, stating that they are costly to maintain, susceptible to weather-related issues, and cannot support modern technology or telecommunications innovation.

Currently, some Brightspeed DSL customers in underserved or unserved areas are experiencing slow speeds that hinder their ability to work or learn online. With this new fixed wireless solution using Verizon's network, these customers will have access to reliable connectivity. Additionally, this solution will also upgrade services for some current Brightspeed DSL customers.
Brightspeed promises a smooth and hassle-free installation process, along with easy-to-understand billing and simple plans. Customers can enjoy stress-free connectivity with no annual contracts, equipment costs, bundle requirements, data caps, or surprise fees.
In conclusion, Brightspeed's partnership with Verizon and the launch of their new fixed wireless voice and data solution is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and providing reliable connectivity to all customers within their service area. With their commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, Brightspeed continues to solidify its position as a leader in the telecommunications industry.
