NAGS HEAD, N.C. - ncarol.com -- NAGS HEAD, N.C. – Get ready for Seaside Art Gallery's most wonderful ground breaking art show of the year, The Modern Masters Event – The Edge of Light. The show opens with a holiday season kick-off on Saturday, November 29th, and continues through the yuletide until December 27th, 2025. The artists' stunning masterpieces celebrate light in ways not seen before.

Ground Breaking Art Show

This Modern Masters Show - The Edge of Light, is ground breaking. Seven modern master artists create this spectacular light show: Cindy Bridgman, Robin Campbell, Tony Craig, Lorraine Dey, Lori Goll, Pattee Hipschen, and Laura Hopkins.

Each artist created seven original works. Diverse in size, medium, and mood. From oil and acrylic to pastel and watercolor. Their artistic vision unveils a truly memorable exploration. From dawn's whisper to the goodnight kiss of nightfall. Each work captures the delicate balance between brilliance and calm... and revelation with imagination.

How Does Color Create the Light?

Hans Hofmann, an influential modern master of his time, once said, " In nature, light creates the color. In the picture, color creates the light."

In creating light on canvas, the artist masterfully portrays highlights, shadows, intentional color contrast, and reflections to paint the light itself. There is no pigment called "light". But rather, it is the artist's careful use of contrast, value, and color pigments that invites the imagination in... reaching beyond the canvas and allowing the human eye to experience the illumination of light.
