Third volume in the Chaos poetry series explores how memory shapes identity, survival, and the quiet art of carrying what never fully left.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Author Scott Burton announces the release of Chaos: The Weight of a Memory, the third installment in his ten-volume Chaos poetry series. Following the first two volumes—A Journal of Being Human and A Study of Shadows—this latest release offers readers an unflinching and intimate look at the role memory plays in shaping how we heal, grieve, and move forward—often while still looking back.
Across 100 emotionally resonant entries, Burton explores the echoes of unresolved experiences, the versions of ourselves we carry forward, and the grief of what never fully ended. Divided into four parts, the volume provides space not for answers, but for reflection.
The book opens with a preface that sets the emotional tone:

"This isn't a book about the past. It's about what the past leaves behind.
The memories that live beneath skin and thought. The ones that keep shaping us, even when we're not looking.
These pages don't seek closure. They offer reflection.
Burton's signature voice returns steady, poetic, and unflinching; as he traces the emotional weight of the things we never quite let go of. With recurring themes of loss, inherited silence, identity, and quiet resilience, The Weight of a Memory deepens the emotional arc of the Chaos series.
Previous volumes have been praised for their honesty and for just how deeply the words hit home. Each book stands alone while contributing to a broader meditation on what it means to survive ourselves and to keep going anyway.
Chaos: The Weight of a Memory is available now in paperback and digital formats through Amazon and major online retailers.

About the Author
Scott Burton is a poet, storyteller, and survivor whose work centers on memory, identity, grief, and the quiet emotional terrain we often navigate alone. As the author of the ten-volume Chaos poetry series, he writes with unflinching vulnerability and a deep reverence for the unspoken—what we carry, what we bury, and what still lingers long after the moment has passed.
A kidney transplant recipient, Burton's writing bridges personal experience and collective resonance. His words are less about answers and more about presence, a way to hold space for what doesn't always fit neatly into healing. He lives and writes in North Carolina.
