Heather Barbour Fenty continues her Caribbean-to-Carolinas reading tour, bringing messages of inclusion, friendship, and oceanic adventure to young readers across North Carolina.
CLAYTON, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Fenty, known for her uplifting picture books Sea, He Is Just Like You and Me and Sea, You Can Swim with Many Friends, kicked off the tour last month with two vibrant public readings in Barbados—at La Cabane and Hibiscus Café. Her storytelling now ripples stateside, reaching families in her hometown of Clayton, NC, and surrounding areas.
"I've loved seeing kids connect with the characters and themes, whether we're seaside in Barbados or right here at a local market," says Fenty. "These stories are meant to show that our differences make us beautiful, and that kindness and friendship can bridge any gap."
Recent U.S. highlights include:
Upcoming Tour Stops:
Heather's stories follow undersea friends like Sunny the seahorse and Shaley the scuba diver as they navigate friendship, acceptance, and the wonder of the deep blue sea. With vibrant illustrations and heartfelt lessons, the books are recommended for children ages 2–8.
