WINSTON ~ The second annual Flying Colors Charity Fun Run, organized by the PACU Foundation, was a resounding success as it raised $11,167 for North Carolina residents facing financial hardship. The event, held at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, N.C., saw a total of 127 runners and walkers of all ages participating. With the support of 19 sponsors and over 40 volunteers, the event was able to make a significant impact in the community.

The Flying Colors Charity Fun Run offered participants the option to either run or walk a 1.5-mile or 5K course. Each participant received a commemorative tie-dye t-shirt, adding to the festive atmosphere of the day. Families also enjoyed various games, face painting, and food trucks, making it a fun-filled day for all.

Megan Brooks, the Fundraising Chair for PACU Foundation and organizer of the event, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support and participation this year. "We are thrilled to see our community come together to make a tangible difference in the lives of those facing financial challenges," she said. The increase in funds raised from last year's $4,000 to $11,167 this year is a testament to the growing support for their cause.

The Flying Colors Charity Fun Run has quickly become a highly anticipated event since its inception last year. The PACU Foundation credits its success to the dedication and generosity of all participants, volunteers, and sponsors.

The PACU Foundation is entirely volunteer-driven and supported by employees of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union. Since its establishment in 2020, it has raised and donated $69,000 to various charities in North Carolina that help individuals during times of financial hardship.

According to Brooks, as of May 31st this year, 80% of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union's employees have made donations to the PACU Foundation. "The spirit of generosity and fun was unmistakable throughout the day," she said. "We are incredibly grateful for the commitment shown by everyone involved and look forward to continuing this momentum into next year."

Aside from her role as the Fundraising Chair for PACU Foundation, Brooks also serves as the Curriculum Development Specialist in Piedmont Advantage Credit Union's Learning Department. Her dedication to both her job and volunteering efforts is commendable and has contributed greatly to the success of the Flying Colors Charity Fun Run.

The PACU Foundation and all those involved in organizing and participating in the event are proud of its achievements and look forward to making an even bigger impact next year. The success of this year's Flying Colors Charity Fun Run is a testament to the power of community support and generosity towards a worthy cause.
