APEX, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Heather Chandler, Game Development Consultant/Owner at Media Sunshine, Inc and Owner of Whole Brain Escape, has been selected as one of the 125 AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) IF/THEN® Ambassadors. IF/THEN®, a national initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies, seeks to further women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by empowering current innovators and inspiring the next generation of pioneers.
"I am honored to be chosen as an AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassador. Becoming an AAAS Ambassador allows me opportunities to share my experiences in the video game industry and get students excited about STEM. If we spark girls' interests in STEM, then they can become women in STEM who ignite future innovations." said Heather Chandler.
During Heather's 23-year career in video game development, including over 3 years as Senior Producer on Fortnite, she's led teams at Epic Games, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Activision. She's launched over 40 games on PC, Console, VR, and mobile platforms and has published several books and articles on Game Production and Development. In addition, she has lectured at conferences around the world like the Game Developers Conference and Netherland Festival of Games. In 2019, Heather decided to combine her love of games, her passion for team-building, and her entrepreneurial dreams and founded Whole Brain Escape.

AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors were selected through a rigorous selection process. Candidates were evaluated for overall excellence with a focus contributions to their STEM related field.
The IF/THEN Girls Advisory Council, comprised of more than 150 10-18 year-old girls from around the country, also participated in the Ambassador selection process.
