Celebrate Wilbur Wright's Birthday With The First Flight Society On Thursday, April 16th!

KITTY HAWK, N.C. - ncarol.com -- The First Flight Society will celebrate the 5th annual Wilbur Wright Day event, a commemoration of aviation pioneer Wilbur Wright at Jennette's Pier on Thursday, April 16th, 2026. The event runs from 6PM-8PM and will include food and drinks. Each ticket purchased gets you a free one-year membership in the First Flight Society.

Instead of speeches and lectures, this will be a party in a unique venue. A chance to enjoy a beautiful view, cordial atmosphere. A chance to celebrate Wilbur's birthday and the wonderful area known as OBX. Sponsors and partners will be recognized as part of the event. An additional highlight will be a silent auction to raise money for First Flight Society programs. The auction includes signed items from FFS Honorary Members and sponsor donations. All proceeds from the auction support First Flight Society programs. Please contact FFS if you would like to be a sponsor.

Without the First Flight Society there would not be a Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The Kill Devil Hills Memorial Association, later named First Flight Society, began as a group of local businessmen who successfully petitioned the US Congress to fund and build a monument to the Wright Brothers' 1903 achievement. The Society celebrates its 99th year in 2026.
