Award is in Addition to other local grants given ahead of move to new facility

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Charlotte Art League (CAL) has received $78,000 from Women's Impact Fund over two years. The grant was announced at the annual meeting of Women's Impact Fund, which awarded more than $390,000 to local non-profits in the areas of Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services. The WIF grant is in addition to free client assistance CAL has received through the Wray Ward Grant Award ahead of its move.

"We are honored to have received financial assistance from these wonderful organizations with a long history of serving our community," noted CAL Executive Director Jim Dukes. "As we move into our  location on Raleigh Street, we are excited about the possibilities our future holds as we work toward creating an expanding sense of community in Charlotte by embracing artists and encouraging conversations."

"Much like Wray Ward, the Charlotte Art League has served our city for decades, from providing gallery and studio space to educational opportunities and mentorship to some of our most amazing local artistic talent," said Jennifer Appleby, President and Chief Creative Officer of Wray Ward. "We are thrilled to partner with this organization as it continues its commitment to the creative community."

"We are excited to award a grant to CAL as it expands into its new facility," said Patricia Massey Hoke, Executive Director of Women's Impact Fund. "Our members were compelled by CAL's work to respond to known gaps in community with resilience and creativity. We look forward to our collaboration."

CAL's new facility at 4327 Raleigh Street allows the organization to expand from a primarily visual arts location into a hub for arts and innovation that provides multiple venues for theatre, music, spoken word, poetry and more.

Since 2003, Women's Impact Fund has amplified the significant role women play in philanthropy. Its mission is to strengthen communities by maximizing women's leadership in philanthropy through collective giving, education and member engagement. With approximately 500 members, the organization has emerged as one of the largest women's collective giving groups in the country and continues to create powerful change within Mecklenburg County.
