Bill Castle was named the winner of ASCE's annual John G. Moffatt-Frank E. Nichol Harbor and Coastal Engineering Award during the Society's PORTS'19 Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. The award is presented to a member of ASCE who made considerable contributions in the fields of harbor and coastal engineering.

Bill Castle was named the winner of ASCE's annual John G. Moffatt-Frank E. Nichol Harbor and Coastal Engineering Award during the Society's PORTS'19 Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, September 17, 2019. The award is presented to a member of ASCE who made considerable contributions in the fields of harbor and coastal engineering. This award was established in 1977 and was endowed by the firm of Moffatt & Nichol, Engineers, in honor of John G. Moffatt and Frank E. Nichol. The award is designed to recognize new ideas and concepts that can be efficiently implemented to expand the engineering or construction techniques available for harbor and coastal projects. The results of such contributions are more efficient techniques or understandings that translate directly into applications that benefit the profession and the public at large.

William J. Castle, P.E., F.ASCE, received this prestigious award for his "significant contributions over the last 45 years to the coastal engineering and construction fields with his innovative solutions. Bill has been a licensed professional engineer for 46 years in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, and Florida. He has also been a certified structural engineer by the Structural Engineers Certification board since 2003. Not only does Bill have ample experience and personal awards, but he also is a board member and member of a multitude of associations. His passion in the industry has also lead to the development of a cutting edge, patent-pending method of repairing steel H-piles.
