WILMINGTON, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Thanks to the generosity of community partners and the Grant A Dream™ program, Elderhaus PACE participant Amanda Blake enjoyed the ultimate girls' night out—complete with music, pampering, and unforgettable memories.
A lifelong rock & roll fan, Amanda once spent countless nights at concerts, soaking in the flashing lights, electric crowds, and deep, rhythmic pulse of live music. In recent years, however, using a wheelchair has made attending concerts difficult. When Amanda shared how much she missed those experiences, the team at Elderhaus knew they had the opportunity to make her dream come true.
Amanda's special day began with her daughter, Carissa, at Aura Beauty, where she received hair styling that helped her feel confident and concert-ready. The two then enjoyed quiet time together preparing for the evening at the Hampton Inn Downtown Wilmington, creating space to relax, connect, and savor the moment.
Their celebration continued with dinner at El Cazador in Carolina Beach, where they shared quality time before heading to the highlight of the evening—the David Lee Roth concert at the Wilson Center. Surrounded by the energy of the crowd and the power of live music, Amanda experienced the thrill she had long missed. The night concluded with a cozy and meaningful girls' night back at the Hampton Inn, allowing mother and daughter to reflect on an unforgettable day together.

Carissa, who lives in Maryland, also expressed deep gratitude for the experience and for the ongoing care her mother receives through Elderhaus PACE. She shared how reassuring it is to know her mother is supported by such a dedicated and compassionate team.
The morning after, Amanda reflected on the experience, sharing that she had not had this much fun since her daughter—now nearly 25—was born. She enthusiastically gave permission to share photos and memories from the day, hoping others could feel the joy she experienced.
"This dream came together beautifully thanks to the incredible support of our community," said Elderhaus staff. "We are so grateful to the partners who made it possible."
Special thanks to Aura Beauty, El Cazador – Carolina Beach, the Wilson Center, and the Hampton Inn Downtown Wilmington for their generous contributions in making Amanda's dream a reality.
