For Leadership and Collaboration in South Carolina Communities to Foster Health Resiliency and Security
CHARLESTON, S.C. & WASHINGTON - ncarol.com -- ReadyCommunities Partnership (RCP) of the Corporate Crisis Response Officers Association presented its 2020 National Service Award to Robert T. Ball, Jr., MD, MPH, FACP for Leadership and Collaboration in the Greater Charleston and other South Carolina Communities to Foster Health Resiliency and Security. RCP's Charleston, South Carolina Co-Chairs John E. Cameron, Captain, U.S. Coast Guard (Retired) and Executive Director, Charleston Branch Pilots; and Dr. Michael G. Schmidt, a professor of microbiology and immunology at the Medical University of SC co-hosted the November 30, 2020 ceremony in Charleston. Charleston's mayor, The Honorable John J. "Dr. Ball is genuinely concerned for our community and embodies all that we want to foster Ready Communities – especially in the face of today's pandemic," said Dr. M.G. Schmidt." John E. Cameron highlighted an additional important aspect of Dr. Ball's contributions to community health when stating that, "Dr. Robert Ball was integral to bringing the public health community into Project SeaHawk, which remains a national model for daily readiness assessments and coordination."

As a leading SC infectious diseases and public-health expert, Dr. Ball teaches at MUSC and serves on the SC Bioethics Taskforce. Dr. Ball has often advised that the community is best served when individuals are informed and take responsibility for their own and the public's health. When accepting this award, Robert T. Ball, Jr. said, "I'm deeply honored yet I want to also recognize all those with whom I've collaborated over the years to promote health resiliency in the face of new challenges."
RCP's National Director, Dr. Rosalie J. Wyatt, MBA provided opening remarks for the award presentation.
