"Next Friday" Star Mike Epps Hits Cherokee as KayeDinero Drops "Cherokee"

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Before Asheville became home, there was Cherokee.

Now KayeDinero is going back.

The Detroit-raised, Asheville-based artist releases "Cherokee," an instrumental named for the Western North Carolina destination she has previously described as the starting point of her North Carolina chapter.

Hours later, she plans to return with her parents for comedian Mike Epps at Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center.

"I came into North Carolina through Cherokee, and now I'm releasing a song called Cherokee on the same day I'm going back there with my parents," KayeDinero said. "That feels full circle."

BEFORE ASHEVILLE, THERE WAS CHEROKEE

In an earlier release, KayeDinero described Cherokee as her first real introduction to North Carolina after leaving Atlanta and before eventually settling in Asheville.

"I didn't know exactly where the journey was taking me," she said. "I just knew I felt led there first."

She later called Cherokee "the doorway into the North Carolina chapter of my life."

Now that doorway has a soundtrack.

MIKE EPPS ADDS ANOTHER LAYER

Mike Epps, known for films including Next Friday and Friday After Next, is scheduled to perform in Cherokee that evening.

"Of all the weekends to end up back there, Mike Epps is performing the same day Cherokee comes out," KayeDinero said. "I love when life gives the story another layer without me forcing it."

A MUSICAL MAP

"Cherokee" continues a KayeDinero catalog built around real places and experiences, including "Appalachia," "French Broad," "Hendersonville," "Banks" and "Detroit WestSide."

"I've realized I'm basically creating a musical map of my life," she said. "Detroit tells one part of it. Asheville tells another. Cherokee is where this chapter started."
