SAN FRANCISCO - ncarol.com -- The new flagship family spans 400G spine to 100G access on one programmable platform; general availability Q4 2026

Taoyuan, Taiwan — 26th of August, 2026 — Netberg, a leading provider of open networking solutions, today announced the Aurora X2 Series, its newest flagship Ethernet switch family. Built on Xsight Labs' programmable X2 switch silicon, the Aurora X2-81 and Aurora X2-71 bring open networking performance, scalability, and flexibility to modern data centers.

The Aurora X2 line supports deployment topologies from high-density 400G spines to cost-effective 100G access layers. Application scenarios include low-power, low-latency connectivity for AI, storage, and compute clusters; custom packet broker and packet tracing solutions tuned to a particular network's needs; broadband network gateways and load balancers; hyperscale visibility fabrics with line-rate packet operations; and forensic infrastructure and network security appliances.

"Programmable Ethernet switches have always been our main focus. By working together with Xsight Labs on our new Aurora X2 series, we are bringing the next generation of programmable switching hardware to market. Cloud service providers, telcos, security and cyber defense companies, and AI solution developers will benefit from ultra-low power consumption, programmability, and precision timing of the new systems," said Alex Ustyuzhanin, Director, Netberg.

The Aurora X2-81 delivers 12.8 Tbps of switching capacity with a 64MB packet buffer. It features 32 x 400G QSFP112 ports, with 16 top ports equipped for 24W transceivers, plus 2 x 50G SFP56 management ports and 2 x 10G SFP+ ports routed directly from the CPU board.

The Aurora X2-71 provides 3.2 Tbps of switching performance for 100G access and aggregation fabrics, configured with 32 x 100G QSFP28 ports, the same shared 64MB packet buffer for burst handling, and the same management connectivity.

Both models share optional SkyWorks Si5401B precision timing, with 1PPS and 10MHz inputs supporting IEEE 1588-2008 PTPv2 and SyncE; a quad-core Intel Xeon control plane with configurable memory and storage; support for ONIE, Ubuntu, and SONiC with no hardware lock-in; and N+1 redundant hot-swappable fan modules with an Aspeed 2620 BMC supporting IPMI 2.0 and Redfish. The Aurora X2-81 draws under 200 W at 12.8 Tbps; the Aurora X2-71 draws under 100 W at 3.2 Tbps.

"AI and new mission-critical neocloud services demand extreme feature velocity from the network. By utilizing our X2 silicon, Netberg delivers a high-performance, power-efficient, and software-defined platform to the open networking ecosystem, enabling customers to scale their infrastructure with confidence. We are pleased to collaborate with Netberg to bring this silicon intelligence to customers, driving new levels of network efficiency," said Eric Vallone, VP of Business Development and Head of Commercial, Xsight Labs.

"At 01Layer, we view programmability and open hardware access as essential to the next generation of network infrastructure. Building on our experience developing software for the Barefoot Tofino-based Aurora series, we see the new Aurora X2 series—combining Xsight Labs' programmable, power-efficient silicon with Netberg's open-platform engineering—as a strong foundation for advanced network visibility, packet processing, security, telemetry, and AI-fabric applications. The ability to adapt the data plane to specific operational requirements, rather than forcing every application onto a fixed switching model, is particularly valuable to developers of software-defined network appliances." — David Chen, Architect, 01Layer, InfiniCORE Inc.
