Cerebral Palsy Foundation #GoGreen4CP Campaign Educates and Improves Lives
NEW YORK - ncarol.com -- The Cerebral Palsy Foundation is proud to lead the establishment of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day 2020 highlighting the importance of recognizing people with cerebral palsy and their families, as well as the need for more research and quality of life initiatives across the lifespan – today more than ever. Many of those with cerebral palsy are at higher risk for secondary complications and illnesses like COVID-19 creating an increased need for resources, support and community engagement.
"This is the 14thyear since National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day in the U.S. was established. We continue to be extremely grateful for ongoing Congressional support bringing awareness to the most common motor disability in children also affecting a large adult population impacting more than 1,000,000 Americans and 17,000,000 people worldwide." says Cynthia Frisina, Vice President for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation and the creator of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. "Meeting the needs of this moment in 2020 will require our very best collaboration, creativity, compassion and commitment – which is what National Cerebral Palsy Day is all about."

Rachel Byrne, Executive Director of the Cerebral Palsy Foundation explains, "Our national campaign #GoGreen4CP is all about raising awareness, celebrating diverse influencers in our community and making a difference. The Cerebral Palsy Foundation is a catalyst for change educating people about cerebral palsy, supporting our community and improving lives every day."
Cerebral Palsy (CP), the most common motor disability in children also affecting a large adult population, disrupts a person's ability to move, sit, stand, walk, talk and use their hands. CP is caused by a non-progressive injury to the developing brain and the severity can vary widely. 75% of people with CP have additional conditions, including epilepsy, autism, hearing and vision impairments, communication problems, and chronic pain. More than 10,000 babies are diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy each year. In most cases, the specific cause is unknown. There is currently no known cure.
