CHARLOTTE, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Living Waters is excited to announce their Mental Health Summit. The topic for this year's summit is Advancing Equitable Mental Health Outcomes for Racially/Ethnically Diverse Populations.
Disparities based on culture, race, and ethnicity impact the delivery, quality of care, and outcomes in mental health. Our communities require targeted outreach and engagement strategies along with treatment and services that are tailored to their backgrounds, families, and communities to improve their mental health.
Event Sponsors are UNC Charlotte and Cardinal Health. Event Supporter is the NC Department of Health and Human Services.
In 2020, the Mental Health Summit focused on building community connections with faith and community for mental health. We brought together over 150 individuals to discuss common concerns about accessing mental health care and ways to work together to support mental health consumers, their families, and caregivers.
This year's summit aims to advance equitable mental health outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations. It is in partnership with the following units at UNC Charlotte including the School of Social Work, Department of Counseling, Urban Education Collaborative, and the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services. The summit will provide intentional space for interaction between UNC Charlotte students, faculty, staff, local organizations, leaders, legislators, and community members. Over 300 attendees will hear from expert speakers in behavioral health, along with researchers, practitioners, clinicians, health system leaders, and civic leaders. They will also engage in critical conversations about moving forward to achieve equitable outcomes in mental health.
