DURHAM, N.C. - ncarol.com -- The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Durham, Orange & Chatham (DOC) Counties recently celebrated its Spring Membership Meeting by awarding $13,000 in scholarships to 13 area high school seniors pursuing college degrees in fields related to the construction industry. The Foundation Board of the HBADOC, a 501c3 charitable organization, has awarded over $325,000 to area students over the past 29 years. The HBADOC hosts a scholarship auction event each year to raise funds specifically for this cause.
The 2026 scholarship recipients are Sydney Burleigh, Brooke Cameron-Simmons, Cameron Copley, Virginia Fitch (PWB Scholarship recipient), Logan Horn, Paige Hymans, Maddie King, Turner Leatham, Nora Lubeck (L.E. Meyers Scholarship recipient), Sean Murphy, Joshua Scism, Pete Vines, and Mahogany Welch.

"Honoring these students, the future of our industry, is why I have served on this board for over 20 years," stated HBA Foundation Chair Mitch Barron of DRB Homes. HBA CEO and Foundation Executive Director Holly Fraccaro added, "I am immensely proud of the HBA of Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties and its Foundation. The charitable spirit of our members inspires me year after year."
The event was sponsored by Fitch Lumber & Hardware Company/Marvin Windows and Professional Builders Supply. Nora Spencer of Hope Renovations served as keynote speaker.
Founded in 1962, the HBADOC is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders and the North Carolina Home Builders Association. Its 700 members consist of builders, developers, subcontractors, suppliers, and professionals in businesses related to residential construction.
