RALEIGH, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Drawbridge Realty has provided a short-term lease to the North Carolina Museum of History for 40,393 square feet of space at Newcastle@1015, a single-story, office and research building at 1015 Swabia Court in Durham, N.C.
The North Carolina Museum of History will use the building to store some 150,000 artifacts while the first major renovation in 30 years takes shape at the museum's home at 5 Edenton Street in downtown Raleigh.
"We're delighted to be able to provide a secure convenient, and environmentally sound location in which to store and preserve the museum's artifacts while museum staff oversee the exciting transformation of the museum over the next two years," said Michael Embree, Managing Director, Drawbridge Realty.
Newcastle@1015 itself was recently renovated by Drawbridge and offers a center landscaped courtyard, a mix of office and conference room space, and climate-controlled warehouse space with truck loading facilities.

The building sits within the Imperial Center business park, at the intersection of 1-40 and 1-540 and adjacent to Research Triangle Park. It is surrounded by paved walking trails, lush landscaping, and restaurant amenities and is less than 10 minutes by car from Raleigh-Durham Airport.
The North Carolina Museum of History, a Smithsonian Affiliate, fosters a passion for North Carolina history. This museum collects and preserves artifacts of state history and educates the public on the history of the state and the nation through exhibits and educational programs. Admission is free. In 2023, more than 355,000 people visited the museum to see some of the 150,000 artifacts in the museum collection. The Museum of History, within the Division of State History Museums, is part of the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
