CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UNC Health passed another significant milestone this week in its efforts to vaccinate as many North Carolinians as possible, administering its 250,000th dose.
In addition, UNC Health's 17 vaccination clinics across the state have fully immunized more than 100,000 patients. That means more than 100,000 people have received either second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine, or the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine.
UNC Health's vaccination clinics across the state include its largest at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. A mobile vaccine clinic continues to offer doses to underserved communities, including recent visits to Selma, Kenly and Benson to reach patients in Johnston County.
"I'm proud of our vaccination teams for their hard work to get so many shots into arms, especially our focus on creating equity in opportunity for vaccination," said Dr. Wesley Burks, CEO of UNC Health. "We already see how these efforts are making a difference in underserved communities. We urge everyone to take their shot when they are eligible."
Vaccine supplies remain limited. UNC Health appointments are scheduled each week based on the vaccine received from the state. We appreciate the patience and support of our patients and community members as we work to provide a vaccine to all interested North Carolinians as quickly as possible.

Currently, healthcare workers at high risk of exposure to COVID-19, long-term care residents and staff, people 65 years of age and older, all in-person frontline essential workers and high-risk individuals and those in certain group living situations are able to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. UNC Health is following rules from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, including the order and timing of who can get a vaccine. As more vaccines become available, other groups will become eligible for vaccination.
UNC Health posts available appointments, as well as COVID-19 vaccination information and education at its online Vaccine Hub at YourShot.org.
