FRANKLIN, N.C. - ncarol.com -- TekTone Sound & Signal Mfg., Inc. honored Breast Cancer Awareness month by hosting its annual "Pink Out Day" and donating to Macon County Public Health.
TekTone employees were encouraged to dress in pink for "Pink Out Day" on October 19th to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Employees also had the opportunity to write on a colored heart the name of a loved one who had been affected by any type of cancer. The colored heart was then hung up in honor of those that have lost their life to cancer, and in support of those who are still fighting. Brad Hyder, Marketing Manager of TekTone, stated, "Several TekTone employees have been personally affected by cancer and we wanted to give them a way to bring awareness for all types of cancer their loved one has dealt with, along with those affected by Breast Cancer."
A donation to Macon County Public Health Women's programs was made on behalf of TekTone employees.
Macon County Public Health was chosen because of its continued efforts to support the women in Macon
County. "We would like to thank TekTone for its continued generosity in support of the women of Macon County. The funds raised will be used to supplement our Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program. The goal of the North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) is to reduce the morbidity and mortality due to breast and cervical cancer in women by providing breast and cervical cancer screening, diagnostic services, and patient navigation services for eligible underserved women of North Carolina. Macon County women 21 to 75 years of age with gross incomes that are below 250% of the federal poverty level, and who are uninsured or underinsured, may be eligible for breast and cervical services," said Kathy McGaha, Macon County Health Director.
