~ Yesterday, members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Association held informational pickets nationwide in order to inform the public about their ongoing negotiations with American Airlines. Kim Barboro, Teamsters Airline Division National Coordinator for Customer Service and Flight Attendants and Co-Chair of the CWA-IBT Passenger Service Association, stated that "American Airlines needs to stop playing games and bargain a fair contract for these workers".
The association represents reservations agents, gate and ticket counter agents, customer assistance agents, and club and travel center agents at American Airlines. Despite the airline earning $1.3 billion in profits last quarter, many of these workers have not received a raise in nearly four years. Joe Ferreira, Teamsters Airline Division Director, noted that these workers have had to face an increase in unruly passenger behavior since the onset of the pandemic.

Lynn Koch, a Teamsters Local 104 member who serves on the CWA-IBT Passenger Service Association Bargaining Committee said "It is far past time we are paid wages that reflect our status as the world's largest airline". The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and represents 1.2 million hardworking people in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
The informational pickets are part of an effort to ensure that American Airlines provides its workers with a contract that reflects their job security, safety, wages, or working conditions. The Teamsters hope that this will lead to better pay for their members who are essential service workers at American Airlines.
