RALEIGH, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Soroptimist International Central East Coast Region today announced that they have made a $6,715 donation to support The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina's Emergency & Disaster Response Fund for relief efforts related to Hurricane Helene.
CDWNC activated this fund to support a regional response and relief efforts in 18 counties of Western North Carolina including the Qualla Boundary. It ensures that frontline nonprofits have the resources they need for the critical early response and continuing recovery. As of November 12, 2024, almost $9.5 million has been awarded through more than 300 grants.
The donation came together at the organization's October meeting. One of the region clubs, Soroptimist International of Raleigh, had recently decided to make a donation and encouraged the other 12 region clubs to join them in giving. The organization had recently gathered last May in Asheville, NC for their annual conference and were inspired to support relief efforts in the area.
