Enables SNIA Swordfish Adoption and Implementation Worldwide
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - ncarol.com -- The Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) Storage Management Initiative (SMI) today announced the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have accredited the SNIA Swordfish™ 1.1.0d specification, now designated as ISO/IEC DIS 5965:2021.
"The accreditation by ISO and IEC of the Swordfish storage management specification will drive worldwide adoption and implementation of products for the management of storage and services," said Richelle Ahlvers, Chair of the Storage Management Initiative and SNIA Board Member. "Swordfish enables rapid deployment of interoperable storage management in today's modern data centers."

The SNIA Swordfish specification extends the DMTF® Redfish Scalable Platforms Management API Specification to define a comprehensive, RESTful API for managing storage and related data services. This version of the SNIA Swordfish standard includes comprehensive management of block and file storage devices with both traditional and Quality of Service (QoS)-based interfaces.
"Redfish and Swordfish working together enable an integrated and broad scale management ecosystem," said Tom Coughlin, President of Coughlin Associates, Storage Analyst and Consultant. "This combined functionality provides a foundation for uniform and integrated management across servers, storage and networking."
Storage management industry experts will be delivering presentations on SNIA Swordfish and DMTF Redfish at the virtual SNIA Storage Developer Conference (SDC'21), which opens today, September 28 and runs through September 29, 2021. The Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) Storage Management Initiative (SMI) was launched in 2002 for the creation, continuous development, and promotion of a highly-functional interoperable management standard interface for multi-vendor storage networking products.
