Successful roaster aims to strengthen community bonds via brick-and-mortar.

OAKLAND, Calif. - ncarol.com -- Established by Cheyenne Xochitl Love in early 2018, the Queer Wave Coffee (QWC) brand was relaunched during the CoVid-19 pandemic as a roasting-only operation. An industry veteran and legend in her own right, Love has been recognized for numerous professional accomplishments and contributions. She has also gained additional praise for her strong commitment to social justice and raising awareness for historically marginalized communities. Love's identity as an Indigenous, Two-Spirit, non-binary trans girl is intricately woven into every aspect of her brand, which is a coffee company rooted in heart-felt, anti-oppressive work and building communities.

QWC is currently seeking funding for a physical space to enable and enhance community bonds, without the traditional restraint of "for profit" loans or investments. People interested in supporting QWC's goal of a brick-and-mortar cafe can donate to the official Kickstarter campaign. All financial contributions will be put towards obtaining/securing a physical space, permits and operating licenses or insurances, furniture, coffee hardware and supplies, food-service equipment and supplies, employee wages and other needs [as detailed on the Kickstarter campaign page]. Additionally, QWC is seeking out any individual who may be willing to lend their time and/or expertise (in funding, legal, marketing, sales, etc.) to the brandThe coffee offered by QWC, itself, pulls its own weight in raising social awareness. In committing to sourcing its green coffee from Catracha Coffee, an organization working to benefit the peoples of Honduras, Love honors her own ancestral roots that have been lost to the countless shames of colonization. Supporting QWC is not just for those who personally identify with Cheyenne and QWC's vision. It is an opportunity for white, cis gendered, straight people of privilege to consciously invest in a transformative effort. It is a way to take action and invest in an endeavor that is making a difference today, tomorrow, and for the future.
