RALEIGH, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Dear Vice President Harris,
Thank you for your address at Koinonia Christian Center Church on October 13, 2024. As a pirate, I appreciate that you took the time to visit the home of the real Pirates! (Go ECU!)
Thank you for your message about helping others and the reminder that we are called to do good in our communities. This aligns with the teachings of Jesus, who emphasized the need to love our neighbors as ourselves.
In Galatians 5:14, Paul writes, "For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." These passages remind us that our actions toward others reflect our faith and commitment to serving God.
The passage from Galatians you referenced also illuminates a deeper call for us to serve not only our neighbors but to live according to the Spirit, not the flesh. Paul goes on to contrast the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit, urging believers to consider the implications of their actions. He calls us to restore those caught in a sin, naming sexual immorality among the issues to be addressed.

Your proposed policies on issues such as gender-affirming care and abortion reveal a stance that, by their very nature, affirms, if not promotes, sexual immorality.
As Vice President, your administration has maintained that everyone should have access to gender-affirming healthcare. This includes a commitment to combating discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals by their employers, regardless of the type of business or organization, including those that are religiously affiliated.
In your speeches, you have consistently asserted that women should have the autonomy to make decisions regarding their bodies and the child in their womb, which includes the right to access abortion care. Yet, God says, "You shall not sacrifice your children, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord" (Leviticus 18:21).
I encourage you and everyone to continue reading God's word. Ask the Holy Spirit of Jesus to help you align your actions and policies with His values. I pray that you will show compassion not only women but also for the infant girls yet to see the bright lights of a delivery room. I hope you will seek to foster an environment where all are welcomed and protected without being forced to compromise their beliefs and values.
