RALEIGH, N.C., June 12, 2025 ~ JetZero, a leading aviation innovator, has announced a major investment of $4.7 billion for a new production facility at the Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) in Greensboro, North Carolina. This groundbreaking project is set to create over 14,500 jobs, making it the largest jobs announcement in the state's history.
The new facility, located on PTI property, will serve as the production site for JetZero's commercial blended-wing-bodied airplanes, known as the Z4. It will also serve as the company's headquarters once it becomes operational. The groundbreaking for this site is scheduled for early 2026.
In addition to this significant investment and job creation, JetZero has also partnered with the North Carolina Community College System to develop a customized workforce training program valued at over $30 million. This program will enable JetZero to meet its aggressive hiring goals and ramp up production at the site over a 10-year period.
According to CEO and co-founder of JetZero, Tom O'Leary, North Carolina was chosen as the ideal location for this project due to its talented workforce of 5.5 million people and over 49,000 engineers. The state also boasts the largest manufacturing workforce in the Southeast and grants more than 30,000 STEM degrees annually.

O'Leary also commended Governor Josh Stein and his team for their leadership in bringing JetZero to North Carolina, which is known as the birthplace of aviation. He also acknowledged the support of local leaders and organizations in making this project possible.
The new facility is expected to create thousands of direct manufacturing and engineering jobs as well as indirect and induced jobs through suppliers and service providers. These jobs will have an average wage of over $89,000 per year, well above the state's average.
John Loyack, vice president of economic development for the North Carolina Community College System expressed his excitement about partnering with JetZero to develop a customized training plan through their NCEdge program. This program will be implemented in collaboration with Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) and other colleges in the region.
GTCC, a critical project partner, has established itself as a key player in aviation education with its dedicated campus that supports the state's growing aerospace and aviation sectors. With strong partnerships across the industry and advanced training facilities, GTCC plays a crucial role in preparing a skilled workforce for regional and national employers, including JetZero.

Dr. Anthony J. Clarke, president of GTCC, emphasized the importance of partnerships in education and training for shaping the future of North Carolina's economy. He expressed pride in playing a central role in preparing the workforce for this transformative project in the aviation industry.
Betty Silver, associate vice president of NCEdge Customized Training, highlighted the significance of this project for their program's purpose - to meet employers' needs and provide tailored training that delivers real results. She also expressed honor in leading the workforce development behind this historic effort and preparing thousands of North Carolinians for rewarding careers while strengthening the state's aviation industry talent pipeline.
The NCEdge team regularly conducts workforce assessments, identifies skills gaps, and develops multi-year training roadmaps directly with employers throughout North Carolina. This hands-on approach ensures that training aligns with actual business needs and allows companies to focus on operations while colleges manage program logistics.
With this major investment from JetZero and partnership with North Carolina's community college system, the state is set to become a hub for aviation innovation and job creation. The groundbreaking for this new production facility is eagerly awaited by all involved parties as it marks a significant milestone towards reshaping the aviation industry.
