Ideanomics' Mobile Energy Global division ("MEG") selected several EV manufacturers to fulfill its 11,254 electric taxi sales orders.
The Tesla Model 3 are being used as a proof of concept, which may see the world's #1 Global and U.S. based electric vehicle maker provide additional MEG EV orders for Chinese the market.
The #1 China EV manufacturer BYD, along with Nissan, Kia, Geely, and Chery are the other partner suppliers for the electric taxi orders. MEG required multiple partners to ensure it could meet both the cost and the delivery requirements.
These orders included 300 taxis for Changxing county, Huzhou; 800 for Neijiang, Sichuan 300 new taxis, and 500 replacement taxis, Qingdao, Shangdong 3,000 EV taxis; Wenzhou, Zhejiang 1,500 EV taxis; Yancheng, Jiangsu ordered 1,250 EV taxis, 300 new taxis and the replacement of 950 taxis; Chengdu, Sichuan is also replacing 3,000 conventional taxis with EV Taxis.
A total of 11,254 electric taxi units are going through the order fulfillment process.
