NEWTON, N.C. - ncarol.com -- EveryAge Foundation Grants a Veteran's Dream Date Through "Grant a Dream™" Initiative

Suffolk, VA (April 22, 2025)
– At 97 years old, retired Army Colonel and Korean War veteran George Taylor still carries the discipline, devotion, and love that defined both his military career and his 70-year marriage. A longtime resident of Lake Prince Woods, a continuing care retirement community, George recently shared a heartfelt wish: to take his beloved wife on a date—something they hadn't been able to do in quite some time.

Health challenges have made outings difficult for George, who now resides in skilled nursing and uses a wheelchair. But thanks to the EveryAge Foundation's Grant a Dream™ program, George's simple yet meaningful request is becoming a reality.

The Grant a Dream™ program empowers older adults to relive cherished memories or fulfill long-held dreams, regardless of mobility or health limitations. For George, that dream was to visit the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Virginia—a place of deep personal significance. During his 20-year service in the Army Judge Advocate General Corps, George made lasting contributions, even donating his military uniforms to the museum.

With support from the EveryAge Foundation, George and his wife will enjoy round-trip transportation, a special lunch, and a VIP tour of the MacArthur Memorial on May 2nd. The outing is more than just a visit—it's a tribute to his legacy and a rekindling of love between two people who've spent a lifetime together.

"Being able to help George reconnect with his past and his partner in such a special way is what Grant a Dream™ is all about," said Donna Franklin, Activities Coordinator at Lake Prince Woods. "This isn't just about a trip—it's about rekindling love, honoring legacy, and giving someone the dignity of a dream fulfilled."

George and his wife have called Lake Prince Woods home for the past 18 years. Though they currently live in different levels of care, their bond remains unshakable. This special outing will mark a rare and treasured opportunity for the couple to step out together and celebrate the life they've shared.
