CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 9, 2024 ~ Charlotte, N.C. - Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) has once again been recognized as one of the World's Most Admired Companies by Fortune magazine. This marks the seventh consecutive year that the energy company has made the prestigious list, ranking as one of the top four gas and electric utilities for the third year in a row.
In a statement, Lynn Good, Duke Energy's chair, president and CEO expressed her gratitude for the recognition. "Providing safe, reliable and affordable energy is foundational to serving our customers and communities," she said. "It is an honor for Duke Energy to be recognized by industry peers, directors and analysts in Fortune's list of World's Most Admired Companies."
The rankings are determined through independent surveys of executives, directors and industry analysts who rate companies on nine attributes including innovation, people management, social responsibility and financial soundness.

Duke Energy's inclusion on this list adds to their recent recognition as one of the top 100 Most JUST Companies. The company has been making strides in various areas including community support, grid reliability and clean energy transition.
One highlight of their recent performance is their investment of over $70 million since the beginning of 2021 to support nonprofits and programs dedicated to helping those in need. This includes grants from their foundation focused on affordability, utility bill pay assistance for low-income customers and energy efficiency programs.
In addition to supporting communities, Duke Energy has also been prioritizing grid reliability by modernizing and strengthening their grid. During Hurricane Idalia last year, their self-healing grid technologies saved over 7 million customer outage minutes in Florida.
The company is also making significant progress towards their goal of reaching 30,000 megawatts of owned or contracted renewables on their system by 2035. This is part of their larger clean energy transition plan which aims for net-zero methane emissions from their natural gas business by 2030 and net-zero carbon emissions from electricity generation by 2050.
