* Kodwo Ghartey ~ Duke Energy, a leading energy holding company, has announced a series of leadership appointments to further advance their strategy and meet the growing energy needs across their service territory. These appointments come following the planned retirement of Julie Janson, who has served the company for nearly four decades in various roles, including executive vice president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy Carolinas and head of its Natural Gas Business Unit. Janson will retire from Duke Energy on July 1, 2025.
Harry Sideris, president and CEO of Duke Energy, expressed his gratitude for Janson's contributions to the company, customers, and shareholders. He stated that she played a significant role in shaping Duke Energy into what it is today and embodied the values that make it a great company. Sideris also acknowledged her leadership in transforming the company and paving the way for growth opportunities. He wished her all the best in her retirement.
Sideris also commented on the additional leadership changes, stating that they reflect the deep level of talent within the organization and demonstrate their commitment to continuity and innovation. He looks forward to working with his colleagues in their new roles as they continue to advance their strategy of building a smarter energy future for customers, stakeholders, and shareholders.

Effective July 1, 2025, Kodwo Ghartey-Tagoe will succeed Janson as executive vice president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy Carolinas and head of the Natural Gas Business Unit. Ghartey-Tagoe is currently serving as executive vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary. With 23 years at Duke Energy under his belt, he previously served as president of utility operations in South Carolina before being named chief legal officer in October 2019.
Alex Glenn will take on the role of executive vice president and chief legal officer with responsibilities including legal affairs, ethics, compliance, and corporate audit. Glenn is currently serving as executive vice president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy Florida and Midwest. He has been with the company for nearly 30 years and previously held the position of senior vice president of state and federal regulatory legal support.
Louis Renjel, who joined Duke Energy in 2017, will become executive vice president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy Florida and Midwest while retaining his position as chief corporate affairs officer. Prior to joining Duke Energy, Renjel held various executive positions at Jacksonville-based transportation company CSX Corporation.

Cameron McDonald, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, will also join the company's senior management committee.
In addition to these appointments, David Maltz, vice president of corporate legal support and chief governance officer, will also take on the role of corporate secretary in addition to his current responsibilities.
All four executives – Ghartey-Tagoe, Glenn, Renjel, and McDonald – will report directly to Sideris.
