Charlotte Art League Opens Politik Exhibit Next Week, August 14
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Tired of not being able to talk civilly about politics? So are the artists of Charlotte Art League (CAL)! They decided to launch Politik, a tongue in cheek August exhibit that will have the city laughing, talking (and maybe even crying quietly to ourselves) as they explore the state of politics in 2020.
"The Republican National Convention was planned to be in town this month. While this convention has been canceled, the election is still looming, and as artists, we have the opportunity to express the current state of politics in the country. We propose a neutral, tongue in cheek approach to documenting politics in 2020," explains Jim Dukes, CAL's Executive Director. The opening night festivities on Friday, August 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. will feature local improv acts, spoken word and music in an open mic format to reflect humor, provoke thought and express the current state of the artists' minds. While the artists will provide food for thought, a food truck will be on site to help nourish the dialog.
