CHARLOTTE, N.C. - ncarol.com -- This year's Champion For Mental Health Honorees have been selected. Each of the four winners will be honored officially at the summit.

Champion For Mental Health Honorees:
  • Rev. Jordan B. Boyd, Pastor of Rockwell A.M.E. Zion Church and Board Chair for Village HeartBeat, Inc.
  • Anabel Paniagua-Doyle is the Community Outreach Recruiter for MECK Pre-K
  • Rev. Glencie Rhedrick, M.S. M.DIV., BCC, Associate minister at First Baptist Church-West and Co-Chair for Charlotte Clergy Coalition for Justice
  • Diana Duncan, CEO of Diana's Homecare, Inc and Co-chair for Minority Coalition of Behavioral Healthcare Providers of Color (MCBHPC)  
The 2021 Mental Health Summit will be held virtually on September 24th, from 9:00 am to 1  pm. This year's summit aims to advance equitable mental health outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations. It is in partnership with the UNC Charlotte School of Social Work, Department of Counseling, Urban Education Collaborative, Race and Social Equity Academy, and Center for Counseling and Psychological Services.

The summit will provide intentional space for interaction between UNC Charlotte students, faculty, staff, local organizations, leaders, legislators, and community members. Over 300 attendees will hear from expert speakers in behavioral health, along with researchers, practitioners, clinicians, health system leaders, and civic leaders. They will also engage in critical conversations about moving forward to achieve equitable outcomes in mental health.
