GREENSBORO, N.C. - ncarol.com -- Celebrity Host and Radio Personality Christian Kornegay, widely recognized as CDK On The Mic, brought the spirit of Thanksgiving to life by hosting the inaugural Bessemer Thanksgiving Dinner. As part of his CDK Cares Initiative, the event welcomed over 250 elementary school students and their families for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, live music, raffle prizes, and early holiday gifts.
The event, which benefitted Bessemer Elementary School, offered much more than a meal. It provided a sense of community and support for families in need. Principal Jonathan Brooks of Bessemer Elementary emphasized the significance of the event, telling WXLV-TV:
"We're a Title One school with a hundred percent reduced lunch, and so, unfortunately, the sad reality is this may be the only meal this week where a lot of us are going sit down on Thursday and enjoy a meal with our families and our loved ones. This may be the only traditional Thanksgiving meal that some of our families get."

Launched in early 2024, the CDK Cares Initiative began with a mentorship program aimed at empowering youth to embrace their potential. Since then, CDK has extended his impact by awarding over $1,000 in scholarships to high school graduates attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
CDK On The Mic's own journey is one of resilience and determination. Overcoming a learning disability, he has risen to become a prominent figure in the media industry. His story is chronicled in his inspiring book, Building A Brand By Using Your Gift, where he shares strategies for personal growth and self-acceptance while motivating readers to turn their talents into tools for success.
"This is more than just a meal; it's about building community and showing families that they are valued," said CDK On The Mic. "I'm grateful to use my platform to pay it forward, inspire others, and create opportunities for people who need it most."
The success of the inaugural Bessemer Thanksgiving Dinner marks the beginning of what CDK On The Mic hope will become an annual tradition of giving, gratitude, and unity.
